Alpine CEO Discusses Future of A110 Electric Model and Potential Delays
Written with artificial intelligence.

Philippe Krief, CEO of Alpine, emphasizes the importance of perfection for the upcoming A110 electric model, potentially delaying its launch. He outlines future plans for the brand, including a new 2+2 model and expansion into markets like the U.S.
Focus on Perfection for A110
Philippe Krief, CEO of Alpine, has confirmed that the forthcoming A110 electric vehicle will be developed on the APP platform, which supports both electric and combustion engines. The A110 will share technological aspects with the Renault 5 Turbo 3E and utilize the same base as the A310 Vision, revealed at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Krief stated that the priority is to ensure the A110 is as refined as possible before its release, emphasizing that it must be perfect for its premium clientele.
Future Plans and Models
The A110 will initially debut as a coupe, with a convertible variant, the A110 Spider, following it. The Spider will retain 70% of the components from the coupe, featuring 30% new elements. Krief mentioned, "We will launch the new A110 when it is ready and perfect, as the first vehicle on a new platform is critical." The A110 coupe will consist of 95% new parts, while the A110 Spider will have around 30% new components. Krief is open to delaying the A110's release until it meets the desired standards of quality.
Market Expansion and Future Models
Beyond the A110, Alpine plans to introduce a new 2+2 model, available in both coupe and convertible styles, before 2030. The brand is also expanding its presence in markets like Japan and Singapore, with Canada and the U.S. next on its list. In the U.S., there is speculation about a combustion engine variant of the A110, potentially featuring a V6 engine, although this is not currently a priority for the brand.
Transition from Combustion to Electric
Krief highlighted the significant investment required to update the existing A110 to meet new cybersecurity regulations, which would yield limited benefits for customers. He noted that there are still gasoline A110 models available at dealerships to bridge the transition to electric models. As Alpine shifts towards electric vehicles, it remains to be seen how it will balance combustion and electric options in its future lineup.
