The new X5 is available with a diverse lineup of powertrains:
- X5 40 xDrive: 48V mild-hybrid inline-6 gasoline engine
- X5 40d xDrive: Mild-hybrid inline-6 diesel engine
- X5 50e xDrive: PHEV combining a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with an electric motor, producing 489 hp and 700 Nm of torque
- X5 M60e xDrive: More powerful PHEV with 612 hp and 800 Nm of torque
- iX5 60 xDrive: Fully electric vehicle (BEV)

Design and Features
The X5's exterior features a vertical kidney grille and striking design elements, including the new "BMW Kidney Iconic Glow". Inside, it offers luxurious touches such as a soft-close automatic door system and a large panoramic sunroof. The infotainment system includes a 17.9-inch center display and a passenger screen for enhanced connectivity.

Both PHEV models come with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and xDrive (all-wheel drive), providing practical cargo space ranging from 525 to 1680 liters.
Production and Availability
Production of the new X5 began in August 2026 at BMW's Spartanburg plant in the United States. The internal combustion engine variants will launch in the German market on November 28, 2026, while orders for the BEV and PHEV models will start on October 8, 2026. The models are expected to reach the Japanese market in early 2027. Pricing details are yet to be disclosed, as the figures currently reflect preliminary estimates for the German market.
