BYD Sets New Speed Record with Yangwang U9 Xtreme, Surpassing 500 km/h
Written with artificial intelligence.

BYD has made history by becoming the first manufacturer to exceed the 500 km/h barrier with a production vehicle, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme. This electric hypercar achieved a Guinness World Record speed of 503.17 km/h on a closed road in Abu Dhabi.
Historic Speed Achievement
BYD has shattered the long-held 500 km/h barrier with its Yangwang U9 Xtreme, marking a significant milestone in automotive history. This achievement underscores the rapid advancements in electric vehicle technology, previously dominated by brands like Bugatti.
Record-Breaking Performance
The Yangwang U9 Xtreme reached an impressive speed of 503.17 km/h during tests on a 10-kilometer stretch of the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed (E11) road in Abu Dhabi. This feat not only set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest speed by a production vehicle but also established a record for electric vehicles under the same conditions.
Technical Specifications
The U9 Xtreme is equipped with four electric motors, each delivering 555 kW (approximately 755 hp), resulting in a total output of 3,019 hp. It features a 1,200-volt electrical architecture and a Blade battery that supports high discharge rates. The model's tires were specially developed in collaboration with Giti Tire, and its advanced suspension system, DiSus-X, can apply significant force rapidly.
Limited Production
Only 30 units of the Yangwang U9 Xtreme will be produced, making it a rare addition to the hypercar segment. This exclusivity is complemented by the innovative technology and engineering prowess that BYD has demonstrated with this vehicle.
Stella Li, BYD's Executive Vice President, praised the achievement, highlighting the youthful audacity of their engineering team. The milestone redefines expectations for fully electric propulsion in the automotive industry.
