MAN Unveils New eTGX Electric Truck with 720 km Range

MAN has introduced its new battery electric truck, the eTGX, at the IAA Transportation 2026, boasting a maximum range of 720 km. With rising diesel prices, the cost efficiency of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) is expected to surpass that of diesel trucks soon.

Overview of the eTGX

MAN showcased its latest battery electric truck, the eTGX, at the IAA Transportation 2026. This new model features aerodynamic enhancements that improve efficiency by up to 3% and increases the usable battery capacity by 10%, allowing for a maximum range of 720 km.

Key Features

The eTGX is equipped with a new generation battery that includes an additional seven batteries, enabling the extended range. This model will require a three-axle design (6×2) for long-distance capability, similar to the announcements made by Scania at the same event. The total battery capacity for the 720 km model is 644 kWh, while the 660 km version has a capacity of 552 kWh.

Performance Enhancements

The most powerful model of the eTGX features a motor output of 440 kW (598 hp). This increased power is necessary for enhanced regenerative braking efficiency, which can improve by up to 20%. The eTGX's design also allows for a maximum payload of 25 tons, comparable to diesel vehicles.

Driver Safety Improvements

In addition to performance and efficiency upgrades, the eTGX improves driver visibility with a safety window installed below the passenger door, a feature that is common in Japanese vehicles but rare in European models. This enhancement aims to increase safety for other road users, especially in urban environments.

Statement from MAN

Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, emphasized the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability, stating that the eTGX will facilitate the transition to electrification in the transport sector. He announced plans to invest €700 million globally over the coming years to strengthen partnerships and support customers in achieving economic success and sustainable business practices.
