Issue Description
The recall is prompted by a defect in the fuel tank of the all-wheel-drive vehicles. Insufficient design evaluation of the valve that regulates internal pressure can lead to the valve failing to close. Consequently, if the internal pressure of the fuel tank rises, fuel may flow into the Activated Charcoal Filter (ACF), posing a risk of fuel leakage.
Remedial Actions
To address the issue, Volkswagen will replace the fuel tanks of all affected vehicles with improved versions and will also install new ACF units. The recall covers vehicles imported between March 8, 2023, and January 16, 2024.
