Porsche Launches Limited 911 GT3 to Celebrate 75 Years in the UK

Porsche commemorates 75 years since the debut of its 356 models at Earls Court with the exclusive 911 GT3 Touring Earls Court 51 Edition, limited to just 51 units. Each vehicle is priced at approximately £251,951 and features unique design elements inspired by the original 356.

Celebrating a Milestone

Porsche Cars GB is marking the 75th anniversary of the first presentation of its 356 coupe and cabriolet at the Earls Court Motor Show in London back in October 1951. This historic moment has contributed to the UK becoming Porsche's fourth largest market worldwide.

To celebrate this occasion, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Stuttgart has crafted 51 units of the 911 GT3 Touring Earls Court 51 Edition specifically for the British market. The starting price for this limited edition is £251,951 (approximately €289,000). Buyers will also receive a Porsche Design chronograph, a leather weekend bag, and a model car.

Distinct Features of the 911 GT3 Earls Court 51 Edition

The Earls Court 51 Edition is based on the 911 GT3 with the Touring package, which forgoes the standard model's fixed rear wing for a more understated design. This limited series maintains the classic 375 kW (510 hp) power output. Key distinguishing features include:

  • A bespoke Earls Court metallic green paint, inspired by the original 356 showcased in 1951.
  • An interior featuring a blend of corduroy and leather in Night Green and Chalk Beige, replacing the sportier materials typically found in the 911 GT3.
  • An embossed silhouette of the 356 on the driver's door trim, alongside the phrase "driving in its purest form."

Porsche has also restored an original 1951 356, repainting it in the same Earls Court green and matching its interior to link the past with the present.

Investment in the UK Market

Porsche's release of this limited edition is part of a broader investment strategy in the UK market, which now has 49 sales and service sites. Recent investments include expanding showrooms and workshops in Guildford and Bristol, along with a new satellite site in southern Dublin. A new parts center is also under construction in Didcot, Oxfordshire, to replace a site used for nearly 20 years.

Krishan Bodhani, managing director of Porsche Cars GB, noted the brand's adaptability over the past seven decades, highlighting recent models like the 911 Turbo S and the Cayenne Electric. He emphasized that significant recent expenditures have focused on parts procurement and training, essential for maintaining a now electrified range.

Porsche's UK presence has evolved from the single 356 model introduced in 1951 to six distinct lines covering petrol, hybrid, and electric vehicles, showcasing the brand's legacy and commitment to innovation.
