Bentley Begins Production of First EV, the Turcal, Ahead of September 23 Debut
Bentley Motors has commenced production of its inaugural electric vehicle, the Turcal, at its headquarters in Crewe, UK, on September 17. The vehicle is set to be unveiled on September 23 after a significant investment of £350 million for new production facilities.
Bentley's New Electric Vehicle Production
On September 17, Bentley Motors began manufacturing its first electric vehicle, named the Turcal, at its headquarters in Crewe, UK. This marks a significant milestone for the brand, with the official debut scheduled for September 23.
The Turcal will be assembled using a new production line established at the Crewe factory, blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to enhance quality standards. This production setup involved a substantial investment of £350 million (approximately $730 million), which included the creation of a new paint shop and a comprehensive refurbishment of the factory premises.
Additionally, a historic building constructed in 1938 has been renovated, with its interior stripped and a precisely leveled floor laid down. This modification is essential for the operation of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) that will transport Turcal units within the facility.
The interior of the Turcal will feature wool supplied by Fox Brothers, based in Somerset, further emphasizing the blend of luxury and sustainability in Bentley's first electric offering.
The world premiere of the Turcal is expected to take place on September 23 at 19:19 local time in the UK.
