Hyundai Teases New Bayon SUV Ahead of Official Launch

Hyundai is beginning to unveil the new Bayon with official teaser images ahead of its full presentation scheduled for next week in India. Although primarily designed as a global model, the Bayon is anticipated to attract attention in various markets.
Design Changes
The initial images reveal a significant stylistic departure from the current generation. The new Bayon features sharper lines, a sculpted hood, prominent fenders, and robust lower body elements, emphasizing a true SUV appearance. The front headlights are divided into two separate units, showcasing a new lighting signature called H-Edge, while the rear lights extend towards the sides, reminiscent of both the Ioniq 5 and the Opel Mokka.
Interior Features
While Hyundai has not yet released actual images of the interior, technical drawings suggest a design similar to the new i20 produced in Brazil. The dashboard is expected to include dual digital displays and a central console, which has humorously been compared to an air fryer due to its unique shape. A tech-savvy cabin is anticipated, featuring a digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch multimedia system, wireless smartphone charging, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems.
Engine Options
Hyundai is likely to maintain existing engine options, including a 1.0 T-GDI that produces 100 hp, paired either with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with a 48-volt mild hybrid support. Additionally, a 115 hp variant, currently seen in the Kia Stonic, may also be introduced for the Bayon in the future. Presently, there are no plans for diesel or plug-in hybrid variants, with the fully electric option being the Hyundai Ioniq 3.
